Summary:

The Dining Services Manager is responsible for managing all activities of the food service department and its resources in accordance with facility policies and procedures, departmental standards, and regulatory requirements. The Dining Services Manager is responsible for the delivery of high quality dining services and for maintaining the dining services department in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.

Shift: Monday - Friday, hours may vary. 

Pay: $45,000 - $55,000

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and promote Pyramid Healthcare’s core values and mission.
  • Plan, assign, and direct the daily workflow of the dining services department.
  • Prepare meals and provide hands-on supervision of the production, cooking, portioning, and serving of meals according to standardized menus and recipes.
  • Collaborate with the executive director and regional dining services director to establish goals, objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Establish systems that maintain operational efficiency and service quality standards.
  • Oversee the execution of strategies to achieve department and organizational goals.
  • Communicate department/organization goals to dining staff and support the team in achieving success.
  • Complete and submit monthly dining department operations reports and other required reporting.
  • Influence the experience, motivation, and performance of the dining services team positively.
  • Communicate staff expectations effectively and promote accountability.
  • Supervise the hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating, and disciplining of employees.
  • Provide input into employee performance evaluations and complete evaluations as directed.
  • Conduct employee rounding and take action with information received to improve employee experience.
  • Direct the development of employees through coaching and providing timely feedback on performance.
  • Collaborate routinely with the dietitian to ensure client needs are met and modified diets are served accurately/adequately.
  • Schedule and participate in regularly scheduled team meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Implement standardized work in the department, including policies/procedures, job flows, cleaning schedules, and orientation/training tools.
  • Conduct kitchen and dining room rounds regularly and take action to correct concerns.
  • Manage purchasing, inventory, and labor while monitoring costs and maintaining budgetary parameters.
  • Respond to client and staff concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Collaborate and communicate with administration and other facility departments.
  • Promptly report and investigate workplace accidents, injuries, incidents, or illnesses involving employees within the location.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Day to day supervision of Dining Services team including but not limited to hiring, training.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • An associate’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in food service management, culinary or related filed or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in food service operations including healthcare facilities, restaurants, schools or similar environment.
  • Minimum 1 year previous food service supervisory experience preferred.
  • Serv-Safe certified or willing to obtain certification upon acceptance of employment offer.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of quantity food service, food preparation methods, and operation of food service equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Ability to make decisions in an objective and ethical manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently both written and orally.
  • Ability to use conflict resolution strategies to resolve difficult situations.
  • Effectively lead employees and teams in a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to problem solve by gathering and analyzing information.
  • Able to be flexible, adapt, and respond to change.
  • Ability to learn and apply applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computer basics.
