Substance Abuse Counselor
Full-Time | Bluff Recovery – Augusta, GA
Salary: $50,000 – $56,000 per year (based on experience)

Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team in Augusta, GA. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing client-centered care and supporting individuals through their recovery journey. This position is full-time and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Licensure Requirement:
Candidates must hold active Georgia licensure as an LCSW or LCMHC (or equivalent professional counseling license).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate behavioral, emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs of clients and their families.

  • Collaborate regularly with the treatment team to develop and monitor individualized treatment goals in accordance with clinical and accreditation standards.

  • Facilitate clinical services including individual and family therapy, therapeutic groups, and coordination with referral sources and outpatient providers.

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation within the Electronic Client Record (ECR) system.

  • Support utilization review processes by providing necessary documentation in a timely manner.

  • Participate in aftercare planning and outcome tracking as appropriate.

  • Contribute to program development through curriculum enhancement, literature review, and staff training aligned with clinical philosophy.

  • Participate in on-call rotation as directed by supervision and program policy.

  • Conduct Level of Care Assessments as required.

  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for clients and respond appropriately to crisis situations.

  • Complete all required trainings and adhere to program policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • Active Georgia licensure as LCSW or LCMHC (or eligible equivalent).

  • Experience in mental health, trauma, or substance use treatment preferred.

  • Strong documentation and communication skills.

  • Valid driver’s license required.
