Summary:

The Lead LPN assists the Nurse Manager and provider in the coordination of care for all clients. They ensure the delivery of quality, competent nursing care to all clients through a strong understanding of all policies and procedures, as well as the Staff Nursing Manual.

Shift:

7:00 AM - 7:00 PM - working every other weekend

Pay:

$31 - $35/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly report to the Nurse Manager any client concerns/status changes and staff issues.
  • Seek out supervision and direction from the Nurse Manager or physician in the completion of nursing assessments, transfers, discharges, treatment plans, progress notes, medication reconciliation, medication administration, vitals, and knowledge of detox protocols, under the supervision of an RN.
  • Attend treatment team meetings and report pertinent information back to the department.
  • Collaborate with the provider and other staff within the treatment team to resolve client concerns or coordinate care, guiding other staff to ensure appropriate and timely patient care. This includes, but is not limited to, nurses, Medical Assistants, Med-Techs, Nursing Assistants, and BHTs as necessary.
  • Ensure timely completion of all necessary paperwork for client care, including but not limited to screening of clients on arrival, assessments, discharge, incident reporting, patient prior authorizations, pharmacy orders, and treatment planning.
  • Review the bed board daily in the morning and/or as needed, communicating any concerns with the Admissions Department immediately.
  • Ensure all timely medication administrations are conducted without error and assigned to appropriate staff.
  • Refer all medication errors to the Nurse Manager.
  • Assist with the orientation of new employees and offer constructive feedback and direction.
  • Communicate concerns to the Nurse Manager.
  • Ensure all medical equipment is in proper working order, and appropriate documentation of daily logs and calibrations are conducted.
  • Ensure proper documentation, administration, and use of facility Narcan kits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensure, & Experience:

  • Current unencumbered LPN license in the state of practice required.
  • Current CPR/BLS, AED, and First Aid required.
  • One year of experience in a behavioral health treatment setting preferred.
  • Background in Substance Use Treatment and Co-occurring Disorders preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb stairs, stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must seldom lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet and indoors. This position will require local travel. This position will be scheduled based on operational need and will be required to provide their own transportation. The incumbent may be exposed to viruses, diseases, and/or infections from clients in the work environment. The incumbent may also be exposed to traumatic situations (i.e., psychiatric).
