At Pyramid Healthcare’s inpatient facility in Duncansville, PA, we specialize in treating individuals with Substance Use Disorders. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (PRN) who is passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate care and contributing to the success of our growing program.

  • Fully electronic Medication Administration Records (eMAR) – no paper MARs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete initial nursing assessments for new admissions
  • Administer medications and provide client education on medication use and treatment
  • Monitor and manage withdrawal protocols using COWS and CIWA scales
  • Collaborate with and support medical providers during assessments and medication management visits
  • Provide guidance and direction to LPNs in delivering client care and completing assigned responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with policy and regulatory standards
  • Monitor client status and respond appropriately to clinical changes or concerns
  • Ensure compliance with medication administration standards, HIPAA, and licensing regulations
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support continuity of care
  • Complete all required trainings and certifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provide guidance, direction, and support to LPNs and other nursing staff as applicable, ensuring safe, compliant, and effective care delivery.

Required Qualifications

Licensure, Education, & Experience

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State of Pennsylvania required for this role)
  • Current CPR/BLS certification, AED, and First Aid
  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or inpatient setting preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of nursing care standards and medication administration practices
  • Familiarity with withdrawal management protocols (COWS and CIWA)
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency or crisis situations
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical care

Physical Demands

This position involves minimal physical demands compared to traditional nursing roles. Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting may be required. The role does not involve heavy lifting or intensive physical care tasks.

Work Environment

This position operates in an inpatient behavioral healthcare setting serving individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Staff may encounter exposure to medications, behavioral health situations, and healthcare environments. PRN staff may be required to work varied shifts based on program needs.

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Additional details will be provided during the interview process as applicable.
