💰 $18 – $22/hour (based on education & experience)

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in beautiful Mars Hill, NC. This role offers the opportunity to use your lived experience in recovery to make a direct impact in the lives of individuals living with serious mental illness and substance use challenges.

Position Requirements

  • Peer Support Specialist Certification in North Carolina (required)

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation (required)

  • Personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery (essential to the role)

Key Responsibilities

  • Peer Support & Advocacy

    • Use your lived experience to inspire hope, build trust, and support clients on their recovery journey.

    • Facilitate weekly social, recovery, and educational groups.

    • Provide or coordinate transportation to help clients access community resources.

  • Collaboration & Care Coordination

    • Actively participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, sharing unique insights as a peer.

    • Assist with developing individualized treatment and recovery plans.

    • Communicate regularly with referral sources and community partners regarding client progress.

  • Documentation & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate records, including medical documents, releases of information, care plans, and discharge/aftercare documentation.

    • Rotate responsibility for documenting daily team meeting minutes.

  • Crisis & Support Services

    • Respond to client emergencies, including crisis planning, hospital diversion, and after-hours assessments (on rotation).

    • Provide ongoing emotional support and help connect clients to needed resources.
