Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Specialist to join our Dual Diagnosis Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) in Asheville, NC. Our ACTT program provides high-intensity behavioral health services in the community, supporting individuals living with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders.
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role on a multidisciplinary team by using your own recovery experience—especially your lived experience within the criminal justice system—to build trust, provide hope, and support individuals as they work toward their goals.
🌟 What You’ll Do

Use lived experience to offer hope, mentorship, and guidance to individuals in recovery

Collaborate as an active member of a multidisciplinary treatment team

Develop and update treatment plans to reflect individual mental health/substance use goals

Maintain accurate and timely client documentation, including medical records, ROI’s, CCP’s, and discharge/aftercare planning
-
Participate in and rotate responsibility for documenting daily team meetings
-
Provide or arrange transportation to help clients access community resources

Design and facilitate weekly social, educational, and recovery-focused groups

Conduct outreach, coordinate care, and maintain contact with referral sources
-
Support crisis planning and response, which may include emergency assessments, hospital diversion, and commitment procedures (as needed)

Other related duties as assigned
📋 Requirements

Current North Carolina Peer Support Specialist Certification
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
-
Lived experience within the criminal justice system

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Passion for supporting recovery and community integration
