The Joint Commission Awards 3-year Accreditation to Pyramid Healthcare Detoxification and Residential Treatment Program in Newport News, VA

Pyramid Healthcare’s detox and residential substance use and mental health treatment program for adults in Newport News, Virginia earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Behavioral Health Care and Human Services on August 5, 2021.

The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing consistent, safe and high quality patient care. The Joint Commission accreditation is valid for 3 years at which time a new survey will be conducted.

The Pyramid Healthcare program in Newport News, Virginia underwent a rigorous, unannounced review. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with standards spanning several areas including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, and rights and responsibilities of the individual.

The journey of continuous quality improvement has just begun here at our new Pyramid Healthcare facility in Newport News, Virginia. Open on July 5, 2021, the 88-bed detoxification and residential treatment program in Newport News is Pyramid Healthcare’s first facility in Virginia. Individualized, medically supervised rehabilitation programming for adult men and women including detoxification, inpatient residential and co-occurring disorders treatment, group and individual counseling, life skills development activities, self-help meetings, educational lectures and films, recreational therapy, and continuing care planning are offered.

Future services at the Newport News, Virginia program will include intensive outpatient and outpatient services in early 2022 and a 40-bed acute psychiatric unit in spring 2022.

Located at 245 Chesapeake Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607, the detoxification and residential treatment program is currently welcoming adult clients. Level of care assessments are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Medicaid, most commercial insurance plans and self-payment are accepted.
